1. You get to try stuff out. It's like Sample Sunday at Costco, except along with food, there are other professionals who bring their own "sampling" of things: photographers who have weddings to relive in the bounty of albums, wedding planners that stage their booth just as you might see it on your wedding day, travel agents that help plan your honey moon vacation, and make up artists that show their before and after work- in action with a real person sitting in the makeup chair getting fancied for the day.
2. Discounts and Raffles. There are so many goodies that the venue/host puts together, and Lake Wilderness had a grab bag for every person to take with them. Along with that, many vendors offer a raffle when you add your email to their list, or offer a discount when you book the day of. At our studio, we offered a 10% discount when booked the same day. In our minds, it helps offset marketing costs, because we get to meet you.
3. Meet vendors face to face. This to me, is the most valuable. In a recent study, couples were asked to list their preferences in order when hiring a wedding professional. The top three responses in the following order were: 1. Personality 2. Portfolio 3. Professionalism. This proved that aside from seeing the professional's work, and wanting to see how well a professional would reply to an anxiety ridden email of a bride before her wedding day, couples were most focused on who they liked and connected with. At a wedding show like this, couples were able to see faces, address their concerns, and ask questions face to face with vendors, without the mystery of a blind dated email.
